### Which iPhones have a locked Hidden album?

Every iPhone that runs iOS 16 or later: iPhone 8 and newer, plus iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation). That is 36 of the 41 models listed here. Older models stop at iOS 15, where the Hidden album has no lock.

### Which iPhones are stuck without a Hidden album lock?

iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus and the first iPhone SE can't update past iOS 15. On these the Hidden album opens without Face ID, Touch ID or a passcode. A locked note is the built-in alternative.

### Why does the path differ between iPhones?

The path depends on the newest iOS your iPhone runs. iOS 16–17 use the Albums tab, iOS 18 has no tabs so you scroll down, and iOS 26 uses the Collections tab. The album always sits under Utilities.

### Do iPhones with Touch ID lock the Hidden album too?

Yes. On iOS 16 and later, iPhone SE and iPhone 8 lock the Hidden album with Touch ID instead of Face ID. The setting is called Use Touch ID. Your passcode opens it as well.

### Can older iPhones lock apps with Require Face ID?

Only iPhones that run iOS 18 or later. That means iPhone XR, XS and newer, plus iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later. iPhone 8 and iPhone X stop at iOS 16 and don't have app locking.
