# How to make a hidden album on iPhone

> You can't create a hidden album on iPhone; Photos has one built in. Hide any photo and the Hidden album appears under Utilities. Options for a private album.

iPhone makes the Hidden album for you. You can't create, rename or duplicate it, but you can fill it in 3 taps.

**Quick answer:** You don't need to make a hidden album on iPhone: Photos already has one, called **Hidden**, under **Utilities**. Hide any photo (open it, tap **••• › Hide**) and it goes there. You can't create a second one or rename it. For a private album with its own lock, use a locked note or a vault app.

## Fill the built-in Hidden album

1. **Open the photo.** Open **Photos** and tap the photo or video you want to hide.
2. **Tap ••• then Hide.** Tap the **More** button (•••) at the top right, then tap **Hide**. You can also touch and hold a photo in the grid.
3. **Confirm.** Tap **Hide Photo** (or Hide Video). It moves to the Hidden album, which opens with Face ID or your passcode.

### How do I make a hidden album on iPhone?

You don't have to. Every iPhone has one Hidden album under Utilities in Photos. Hide a photo with More (•••) › Hide and it moves there. You can't create additional hidden albums.

### How do I make a private photo album on iPhone?

Hide the photos so they go to the locked Hidden album, or put them in a locked note with its own password. A vault app can also hold several private collections behind a lock of its own.

### Can I rename the Hidden album?

No. The Hidden album is a system album, like Recently Deleted. Its name, place in Utilities and lock are set by Apple.

### Can I make a regular album hidden?

Not the album itself. You can hide every photo in it: open the album, tap Select › Select All › More › Hide. The photos go to Hidden; the empty album stays in your list.
