Almost every missing Hidden album is one switch: **Show Hidden Album**. Your photos are still there.

**Quick answer:** If the Hidden album is missing, open **Settings › Apps › Photos** (iOS 18 and later) or **Settings › Photos** (iOS 14–17) and turn on **Show Hidden Album**. Go back to Photos and look under **Utilities**. Turning the switch off never deletes anything; your hidden photos are still in the album.

iOS 26:

1. **Open Settings › Apps › Photos.** Open **Settings**, tap **Apps**, then tap **Photos**.

3. **Check Utilities again.** Go back to Photos and look under Collections › Utilities.

iOS 18:

2. **Turn on Show Hidden Album.** Switch **Show Hidden Album** on. Turn it off to remove the album from Photos; your hidden photos stay hidden either way.
3. **Check Utilities again.** Go back to Photos and look under Utilities, below your library.

iOS 16–17:

1. **Open Settings › Photos.** Open **Settings**, then tap **Photos**.
2. **Turn on Show Hidden Album.** Switch **Show Hidden Album** on. Turn it off to remove the album from Photos; your hidden photos stay hidden either way.
3. **Check Utilities again.** Go back to Photos and look under Albums › Utilities.

iOS 14–15:

## Hidden album missing: questions

### Why did my Hidden album disappear?

The Show Hidden Album switch was turned off, by you, someone else, or a settings change. Turn it on in Settings › Apps › Photos (Settings › Photos on iOS 17 and earlier). The album and its photos come straight back.

### Did turning off Show Hidden Album delete my photos?

No. The switch only controls whether the album appears in Photos. Every hidden photo stays hidden and stored. Turn the switch back on and they reappear under Utilities.

### Where is Show Hidden Album in iOS 18?

iOS 18 moved app settings into Settings › Apps. Open Settings, tap Apps, find Photos, then turn on Show Hidden Album. The same path works on iOS 26.

### My Hidden album is back but empty. Why?

The photos may have been unhidden, deleted or not synced yet. Check your library, then Recently Deleted. With iCloud Photos, photos hidden on another device appear once syncing finishes.

### Can I hide the Hidden album on purpose?

Yes. Turn Show Hidden Album off to remove the album from Utilities. It is a good way to keep it out of sight, but anyone who knows your passcode can switch it back on in Settings.
