- 4 checks
- 30-day window

An empty Hidden album means the photos moved. There are only four places they can be.

- **Checks:** 4
- **Recover within:** 30days

**Quick answer:** If your Hidden album is empty, check four places: your **library** (the photos were unhidden), **Recently Deleted** under Utilities (deleted photos stay 30 days), **iCloud sync** (photos hidden on another device arrive later), and any **vault or notes app** you moved them to. Nothing in Hidden expires on its own.

4 checks

## Check these four places in order

| # | Where | What happened | How to check |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | Library | Someone unhid them | Scroll to the date they were taken |
| 2 | Recently Deleted | They were deleted | Utilities › Recently Deleted, unlock, Recover |
| 3 | iCloud Photos | Hidden elsewhere, not synced yet | Wi-Fi, power, Photos open; check iCloud.com |
| 4 | Another app | Moved to Notes or a vault app | Open Notes or the vault app |

- Library checked at the original date
- Recently Deleted checked
- iCloud Photos sync finished
- Notes and vault apps checked

Recover

## Recover from Recently Deleted

Open `Utilities` › `Recently Deleted`, unlock it, tap **Select**, choose the photos and tap **Recover**. Recovered photos go back to your library, not to Hidden. Hide them again if you want.

Items stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days. After that they are gone from your iPhone and iCloud.

Questions

## Hidden album empty: questions

### Why is my Hidden album empty?

The photos were unhidden, deleted, not synced yet from another device, or moved to another app. Hidden photos never expire or vanish on their own. Check your library and Recently Deleted first.

### Do hidden photos get deleted after 30 days?

No. Hidden photos stay hidden indefinitely. The 30-day limit applies only to Recently Deleted, which holds photos you deleted. After 30 days there, they are removed for good.

### Can I recover photos deleted from the Hidden album?

Yes, within 30 days. Open Utilities › Recently Deleted, unlock it, select the photos and tap Recover. They return to your library. After 30 days they can't be recovered from your iPhone.

### Why are hidden photos on my iPad but not my iPhone?

iCloud Photos may still be syncing, or it is off on one device. Check Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Photos on both. Keep the iPhone on Wi-Fi and power with Photos open to finish syncing.
